In Nebraska 2006 ended and 2007 began with severe winter storms that won't soon be forgotten. Heavy ice, up to several inches thick, coated power lines and left thousands of Nebraskans without power.

The Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is offering public assistance to certain private non-profits and city, county and state entities in the 57 Nebraska counties impacted by the December 19, 2006-January 1, 2007 storms. For more information about the program and eligibility, contact Seth Hyberger, NEMA public assistance officer, at (402) 471-7236. Deadline for assistance is Feberuary 6, 2007.
