The forest products industry in Nebraska is relatively small and dispersed compared to more forested states in the west and south, but it is a significant contributor to the state’s economy. Approximately 100 sawmills, including 34 active mills, annually process 4 million cubic feet of logs and other roundwood into wood products. Each year more than 36 million board feet of timber is harvested from Nebraska’s woodlands.
Questions about Nebraska's forest products industry and forest products can be directed to Dennis M. Adams, Forest Products program coordinator.
