Summer and Fall Forestry Field Trips

PRAIRIE PINES NATURE PRESERVE, LINCOLN

Join us at the Prairie Pines Nature Preserve to explore, play, and learn. Spend 90 minutes on a guided exploration of the different ecosystems at the preserve. We will focus the learning around a theme and all of our field trips include a trip to the nature ninja course!

Connect your students with nature at the gorgeous Prairie Pines, a nature preserve that includes forest and prairie habitats outside of Lincoln. We are currently scheduling field trips for the summer and fall of 2021. Summer field trips are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Preschool

Forestry Five Senses:
Nature stimulates eyes, noses, ears, and fingers! This experience facilitates sensory experiences and connections to the outdoors.

Nature Neighbors:
Learn about the natural neighbors found all around us! Go on a search for signs of inhabitants of the forest and draw connections to your own backyard.

Who Needs Trees?:
We all need trees! We will investigate the tree-mendous ways these super-hero plants help wildlife and ourselves.

Water Wonders:
Where does all that water go when it rains? Discover how water travels exploring Prairie Pines.

Name That Tree!:
Ever wondered what tree that is? Learn how to identify trees and start your very own Tree ID book.

Icky Invaders:
Aliens are invading our ecosystems every day as invasive species! Learn about invasive species in Nebraska and learn how they cause problems for people and nature alike.

Earth's Changing Climate:
What's the difference between weather and climate? How is climate change impacting where you live? Answer these questions while walking through the forest.

So You Want to be a Forester?:
Love spending time outside and enjoying nature? Learn about what it takes to have a career in Natural Resources.
