Teach Outside! Exploring Nature in Your Neighborhood Workshop

The Nebraska Forest Service is proud to announce a *NEW* free monthly workshop series for educators across the state and country starting in August 2021.

Just NFS and affiliated facilitators monthly on the Third Thursday of the month at 3:30 pm to learn about how to better connect your students to the outdoors this school year. Each month will feature different topics that highlight various resources and activities, promoting environmental and STEAM education in your educational setting. Network with other passionate educators while gaining new teaching strategies for connecting youth in your life to the outdoors. This workshop series is focused on formal teachers, but is also great for afterschool educators, early childhood teachers, nonformal educators, and everything in-between.

In August, learn about new activities from Project Learning Tree and try one out that connections learning in the classroom to the places your students live! Participants will receive certificates for 1.5 in-service hours for childcare licensing and the background knowledge to lead STEAM-focused hands-on nature-based activities in their educational setting.

Back to School! STEAM Educator Workshop

Attend a brand-new workshop offering from Nebraska Forest Service! Gain access to PLT's new flagship K-8 curriculum: Explore Your Environment. Attendees will be fully equipped to teach hands-on inquiry-based STEAM-focused (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math) activities for the upcoming academic year!

  • Details: August 24th ; 6:30-8:30 PM and August 31st; 6:30-7:30 PM via Zoom
  • Each participant will be given a certificate for 6 in-service hours for childcare licensing, a copy of the curricula, and the background knowledge needed to implement these hands-on, heads-on activities in your classroom or program right away!
  • Must be registered by August 24th
  • Cost is $25 per person
  • For educators of learners ages early childhood through high school

Healthy Trees: Healthy Communities PLT Educator MiniWorkshop

Attend a brand-new workshop offering from Nebraska Forest Service! Gain access to PLT's newest curriculum guide: Trillions of Trees. Attendees will be fully equipped to teach hands-on inquiry-based STEAM-focused (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math) activities for the upcoming academic year! Only 25 seats are available! In September, learn about activities from Pheasants Forever and their connections to Project Learning Tree. Try out an activity focused on habitats and learn about programs available to you and your students from Pheasants Forever.

Participants will receive certificates for 1.5 in-service hours for childcare licensing and the background knowledge to lead STEAM-focused hands-on nature-based activities in their educational setting.
