Forestry Hall 100 Year Celebration

The Nebraska Forest Service is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Forestry Hall on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s East Campus! The celebration will take place on the north side of the Nebraska East Union (next to the Heuermann Clock Tower) on Friday, September 20th from 12-1:30 p.m. Smokey Bear will also be on hand to take part in the festivities. Complimentary UNL Dairy Store ice cream and cupcakes will be provided (first come, first serve) to celebrate the anniversary of the building and Smokey Bear’s 75th birthday.

Nebraska State Forester John Erixson says the event will celebrate the history of the Nebraska Forest Service headquarters and the legacy of the building we call home.

“Celebrating the 100-year history of Forestry Hall recognizes the impact the many students, faculty, and staff who have walked the halls of this historic building,” Erixson said. “We are honored to call this building home, the legacy of the many who passed through these halls before us have had such a great impact on Nebraska’s trees and forest. Please come join us in celebrating the anniversary of this historic building.”

NFS will also be commemorating the event with the hashtag #ForestryHall100. Participants who post on Instagram or Twitter with #ForestryHall100 will be entered for a chance to win a free NFS t-shirt.
